Freemasons’ Hall Ashbourne

Become A Freemason

Am I Eligible?

Freemasonry under the United Grand Lodge of England, is open to men* who are over the age of 21, regardless of ethnic group, political views, economic standing or religion. However, he is expected to have a belief in a “supreme being” and a faith. How he articulates or participates in that faith is a personal matter for him alone, and is not something we offer any opinion or guidance upon.

In the UK there are 55 University Lodges which are open to students over the age of 18. The closest Lodge to Ashbourne within the University Scheme is Hartington Lodge, No. 1085 which meets in Derby.

United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) oversees lodges in England, Wales, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands, whilst Scotland and Ireland have their own Grand Lodges.

*(Freemasonry, contrary to popular belief, is open to women too. Please see the information about women’s lodges in our FAQ section)
